I don’t know about you, but one of the aspects of providing PT that I enjoy the most is knowing that I am doing something that can make a big difference in someone’s life. It’s also fascinating to discover how differently each person’s body responds to the same treatment technique, and intriguing to learn what motivates people during the recovery process. So I ask myself, how can I adapt my knowledge to best help each individual? What can I do to get through to someone who is depressed about a fresh injury or chronic lack of mobility? How will the parameters of PT practice change in the face of healthcare reform, and what can I do to maximize my patients’ ability to receive the care they need in the potential chaos ahead?
These are the thoughts that drive me forward … but what drives you? What are your thoughts on the reasons we do what we do as therapists? What is your take on healthcare reform? How are you new grads feeling as you become more familiar with the ins and outs of your caseloads, and how are you seasoned therapists holding up to the work at hand?
Let me know what’s on your mind — as an avid student of human nature, I’m always interested in understanding what makes you tick.
